For several years now Lucasfilm has been trying, on both sides of the Atlantic, to stop Englishman Andrew Ainsworth from making and selling Stormtrooper helmets and body armor “cloned” from the original Star Wars Episode IV molds.

Having obtained only a default judgment in California, where Ainsworth has no assets, and having failed to obtain relief at the High Court or the Court of Appeal in the UK, Lucasfilm’s last hope is that the UK Supreme Court, whose decision in the appeal will be handed down on Wednesday, 27 July 2011, will agree with them that either they can sue Ainsworth in the UK for infringement of US copyright, or that his acts constitute an infringement of UK copyright law.

Watch this space for the decision and a copy of the judgment when it becomes available.
